"Ten yuan for five kilograms."
The man hesitated, then said, "I'll take twenty kilograms."
Zhao Xiao-hui looked at the money in his hand, her eyes flickered slightly. She didn't know if it was real or not. She wanted to ask the old man nearby for help, but he was too busy to notice her.
The man took out a one hundred yuan note and handed it over. Zhao Xiao-hui's face remained unchanged as she didn't rush to take the money from him.
But just as she thought things were going well, the man suddenly changed his mind and said,"Forget it." He turned around and rode away on his motorcycle.
Zhao Xiao-hui watched him leave without saying anything. The same day, another customer came along and bought three bundles of red potatoes from her. But even that small success couldn't lift her spirits.
This is how life goes on in this quiet village where time seems to stand still.
As days passed by, people began to whisper about a mysterious figure who roamed around town buying goods with fake notes before disappearing into thin air.
One day, an elderly woman came to set up shop near Zhao Xiao-hui's stall.
She had been selling vegetables here for years but never got any attention until now.
Zhao Xiao-hui noticed that there were more people coming towards them than usual.
But no matter how many customers they attracted,
the elderly woman never seemed happy.
Her face would turn pale when someone approached her.
It was as if she knew something terrible was going to happen.
Sure enough,
End
