Peoples literature, or the literature of the people, refers to works that reflect and express the thoughts, feelings, and experiences of ordinary people. It is a form of storytelling that speaks directly to our hearts and souls. The stories in these books are not just about grand heroes or romantic love affairs; they are about us - our struggles, our triumphs, and our everyday lives.
I remember reading Lu Xun's "A Madman's Diary" for the first time. The story was set in a small village during China's Qing dynasty era. The protagonist was a madman who had lost his mind after witnessing countless cruelties committed by his fellow villagers against each other. His diary entries were raw and honest reflections on humanity's darker side. I felt like I was reading my own thoughts - it was as if he had seen into my soul.
Another favorite book of mine is "The Family" by Ba Jin. This novel tells the story of four generations living under one roof in modern-day China during World War II. Through their struggles with poverty, war, and social change, Ba Jin paints a vivid picture of what life was like for ordinary Chinese people at that time.
These books were more than just entertainment; they were windows into different worlds that helped me understand my own place in society. They made me realize how interconnected we all are - no matter where we come from or what challenges we face.
As I grew older, my appreciation for peoples literature only deepened. I began to see how these stories could be used to inspire positive change in society - how they could bring people together across cultures and backgrounds.
Nowadays when I look around at this complex world filled with conflict and division , I find solace in those old books on my shelf . They remind me that there is still hope for humanity because there will always be voices raised up from among us who speak truthfully about ourselves .
So let us cherish these stories from peoples literature , share them with others ,and use them as mirrors reflecting back at us so we may know ourselves better . For through such self-discovery comes understanding , compassion & ultimately unity .
